Mitch Hedberg RIP

What a crazy week. Three people passed away of significance. Mitch Hedberg was a damn funny comic. I spoke to a few people who knew him and they all said he was a great guy yet hated any sort of spotlight or success. Bottomline he created a whole cadence and style. You know your an awesome comic when you see young comics copying your style and joke style. There are a lot of Mitch Hedberg clones out there. They don't do him any justice. But I'm sure his legacy will blow up. Death has a strange way of making everyone finaly aware of your talent.

Terry Shiavo died. don't know much about her. Her name will last as long as Eleon Gonzales. But still a sad story. I guess.

The death of Jonny Cochran hit me hardest. I'm no OJ fan but he died of a brain tumor. Something I survived. Sometimes I ponder how I survived and I know I'm damn fortunate. I just did an interview for a newspaper. The journalist was a hot chick and she reads my blog so I'm saying whats up. But I told her crazy stuff during the interview. I told her god let me survive so I can entertain people with stupid jokes. She thought I was nuts, but there is truth to this. Before my brain surgery I lied in my bathtub naked preying to god I'd survive and there is a reason I need to still be on this earth. Comedy is the reason.

Ok, a few more things. Do you believe in deja vu? I bought this cd from a band Head Automatica. I went to college with the singer and we were very close friends. At the time he was in this really hard, loud band Glass jaw, and they were great and had success. He grew tired of em and started Head automatica which is really great rock and kinda dancy trip hop or whatever. Problem is there is one awful lemon on the cd. The song is a rap number about Felix the Cat. It is quite gay.

Where is the deja vu? I felt like I heard the song before. And then I realized I heard it in a dream in college. I told Daryl the singer about it. "Yo i had this crazy dream where I was listening to a cd by you and you were rapping and it was really gay about Felix the Cat."

He thought I was crazy, but i stand by this story.

My birthday show is this Thursday at 9pm. I got something crazy planned. Don't miss it. Love you all and I cherish everyday.

Home, Home Again

I'm back where it all began in Woodstock, NY. I wish I could come home more often. Its good to catch a break and fresh air. I've done like fifteen shows in the past two weeks so its good to escape comedy for a few nights. I bring a whole new energy to my parent's house. Grandma lives here and when I arrived at 4pm today she had yet to wake up. But me being the goofball I am, when she woke up she was laughing and full of energy. Then there is Fenway the cat. He is sixteen but when he sees me he gets so frisky. I play a game where I chase him all artound the house. For an old boy, he sure can still run.

I brought home this killer tape of me doing comedy. My parents haven't seen my stuff in a while. I must say they love what I do. Yet, not too happy about my sister jokes. As we watch it and I say somethng crude I say, "Aren't you glad I spend all my time doing this when most kids my age are becoming lawyers and doctors?"

No reply. But they are very supportive of me and they know their son is quite special.

Its 3am. I played plenty of online poker and now I'm writing this listening to some Mercury Rev. They are a great band. www.Mercuryrev.com they deserve a plug.

Once again my birthday show.
